During a flight to circumnavigate the globe, Earhart disappeared somewhere over the Pacific Ocean in July 1937. Amelia's Plane wrecked was never found, and she was officially declared lost at sea. Amelia's disappearance remains as one of the most unsolved mysteries of the twentieth century.
